Disposable Pedicure Kits: What’s Inside and How to Choose for Your Salon

Disposable pedicure kits with pumice pad, nail file, buffer and toe separator

Pumice pads, nail files and buffers are porous. They cannot be disinfected like metal nippers, so in most salons they are used on one client and then thrown away or given to the client. That is why disposable pedicure kits have become a standard part of nail salon supplies: every client gets a fresh, sealed set, and technicians spend less time preparing tools between appointments.

This guide explains what goes into a pedicure kit, the difference between the common kit types, and how to choose and stock them for your salon.

Why Salons Use Single-Use Pedicure Kits

  • Hygiene you can show. Opening a sealed kit in front of the client shows that the tools are new. Clients notice, and it builds trust.
  • Easier compliance. Many state boards of cosmetology require that porous tools such as files, buffers and pumice be discarded after one use or given to the client. Kits make that rule easy to follow. Always check your own state board’s current rules.
  • Faster turnover. One kit per chair means no hunting for a matching file and buffer between clients.
  • Predictable cost. When each pedicure uses one kit, you know the exact tool cost per service and can price accordingly.

What Is Inside a Pedicure Kit?

Pedicure Kit 4 PE: pumice pad, file, buffer and PE toe separator.

Most kits combine three to five of these tools:

  • Pumice pad: removes dry, rough skin on heels and the balls of the feet.
  • Nail file: shapes the toenails. Lower grit numbers (such as 80) are coarser and remove more material.
  • Buffer: smooths ridges and file marks on the nail surface.
  • Toe separator: keeps toes apart while polish is applied and dries.
  • Wooden pusher: gently pushes back cuticles and cleans under the nail edge.

PE or EVA Toe Separators?

PE (polyethylene) separators are lighter and firmer, and they keep costs low. EVA separators are made from a softer foam that many clients find more comfortable during longer services such as gel pedicures. If you are unsure, try both and ask regular clients which they prefer. We also sell separators on their own: EVA toe separators and PE toe separators. For more detail, see our posts on EVA toe separators and PE toe separators.

Complete the Pedicure Station

Kits cover the tools. A clean pedicure station usually also needs:

How Many Kits Should a Salon Stock?

A simple way to plan: multiply the average number of pedicures per day by the number of days you are open per month, then add 10–15% for busy weekends and holidays. For example, 20 pedicures a day x 26 days = 520 kits a month; with a 15% buffer that is about 600 kits, or three cases of 200. Buying by the case lowers the cost per kit, and our bulk spa supplies guide explains what else to stock first.
