PE Stretch Film

How to choose PE stretch film

The first choice is how you wrap: by hand or on a stretch wrapper. Hand film suits lower volumes and mixed loads. Machine film suits steady, high-volume pallet lines. After that, pick width, length, gauge and color.

• Wrap method: Wrapping by hand? Choose PE hand film. Running a pallet wrapper? Choose PE machine film.
• Width and length: Hand rolls are 12, 14, 16 or 18 in wide and 550 ft to 1,500 ft long. Machine rolls are 20 or 30 in wide and 5,000 ft to 6,000 ft long.
• Gauge: Hand film runs 50 to 90 gauge. Machine film runs 63 to 120 gauge. Heavier or sharp-edged loads usually call for a higher gauge.
• Color: Clear film lets staff read labels through the wrap. Black hand film and white machine film keep the load out of sight.
• Pack: Hand film ships 4 rolls per carton. Machine film ships 1 roll per carton. Many warehouses keep both on hand for odd-size loads.
