How to choose medical trash bags

Medical trash bags are chosen by can size, color and the type of waste. Your facility’s waste plan should drive each choice.

• Size: We carry 24 in x 24 in for small exam room cans, 30 in x 43 in and 33 in x 39 in for mid-size cans, and 37 in x 50 in, 40 in x 46 in and 40 in x 48 in for large cans. Measure the can before ordering.
• Color: Bags come in many colors. Many facilities use color to separate waste streams, so confirm which colors your plan calls for and tell us when you request a quote.
• Thickness: Every bag is 16 microns (about 0.63 mil) HDPE. Do not put sharps or heavy, wet loads in bags not meant for them.
• Rules: Follow your state and local rules for regulated medical waste, including labeling and how bags are stored and collected. Check with your waste hauler for any bag requirements.
